Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business
Schenker Australia represented at the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business in Hong Kong
In early November, the German-Australian Chamber of Commerce organised for a large delegation of representatives to join the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business in Hong Kong.
The Australian delegation comprised of senior business leaders and included Ron Koehler, DB Schenker CEO AU/NZ (also Chairman to the Board of the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce) among other high-level business representatives.
Before the conference began, the delegation had the opportunity to be involved with various activities throughout Hong Kong. This included a visit to DB Schenker Hong Kong to discuss the opportunities and challenges of operating in the Hong Kong and South China markets, a dinner at the former Hong Kong Maritime Police Headquarters, a visit the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park which is working to commercialise innovation & an exclusive Australian Reception which was spoken at by Ron Koehler DB Schenker CEO AU/NZ and Mathias Cormann the Australian Finance Minister.
The Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business was centred on key business trends which are taking place, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. The event was attended by 1000 senior business leaders and politicians from both Asia-Pacific and Germany. Topics which were under discussion included the impact of Industry 4.0 on manufacturing, the start-up economy, the best approach to infrastructure spending and its financing, the security situation in the Asia-Pacific, climate change and the impact of changes in mobility and smart cities on industry and governments. The event also included a session about investment opportunities in Australia and New Zealand.
