DB Schenker Logistics brings biggest yacht of the “boot 2011” from the Rhine to Düsseldorf exhibition center at high water

(Frankfurt am Main/Düsseldorf, January 11, 2011)   Experts from DB Schenker Logistics specializing in trade fair and special transports yesterday conveyed the biggest yacht to be displayed at “boot 2011” along the Rhine to hall 6 of Düsseldorf Exhibition Center at high water. 27 meters in length and weighing 71 tons, the Sunseeker 88 will be the star attraction at the world’s largest water sports exhibition (January 22 – 30, 2011).

Experts from Schenker Deutschland AG are taking over yachts directly on the banks of the Rhine with the exhibition center’s own special crane “Big Willi”, Europe’s biggest mobile boat lift, before transporting them to “boot”. The logistics specialists load motorboats, sailboats and catamarans onto special low-loaders, positioning them accurately to the centimeter, and transport them to the exhibition center with heavy haulage truck tractors. Ulrich Zähres, Head of Trade Fairs/Special Transports at Schenker Deutschland AG in Düsseldorf: “Transports of this kind are organized at least half a year in advance, and we don’t let floods, ice or snow interfere with our plans. Our motto is: safety before speed.“
